Hosts Claire and Ross are originally from the UK. They met in Chamonix-Mont-Blanc, and lived in England, France and Italy before emigrating to Canada in 1987. Vancouver’s Point Grey was their home for nine years; Ross in engineering and Claire a teacher of skiing at Grouse Mountain. The following thirteen years were spent in Canmore, AB. The Canadian Rockies was a spectacular backdrop to raise two children, and it is where Claire opened her first Bed and Breakfast. The empty nest came with wanderlust and for two years home was a VW camper van in Europe, enjoying favorite activities of climbing, skiing, hiking, road biking, and exploring local cultures.
Ten years ago on a road trip through southern BC they discovered the West Kootenays, an area rich in mountains, lakes, culture and arts. The climate here is comfortable year-round, and it is nurturing and enriching of the soul. It is here they chose to put down their permanent roots, to discover this special place, and to enjoy life on Kootenay Lake.
